I'm Debra Gerson!

I'm the creator of The Functional Fertility Method™ - an integrative and biology-based program that empowers you to identify and correct hidden issues affecting your fertility. This research-based and proven method will improve not only your fertility but your whole health!

Additionally, I am an Integrative Fertility Expert, a Functional Medicine Clinician, Board-Certified in TCM Reproductive Medicine, and a Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist. I’m also one of the few providers who combine these therapies with a Hypnotherapy Certification.  

I'm an Infertility Survivor and IVF Warrior!  I'm now a mother to awesome twin kiddos, Aiden and Isabella! But enough of that. Let’s start at the beginning and end up with how I can help you!

My Story

I always knew that I wanted to be in healthcare. As a child, I felt as comfortable in my father's periodontal office visiting with his surgical patients as I did dressing my first dog's gaping wound from a tumor. 

I realized pretty early on that Integrative Health was the right path for me and, after graduating Magna Cum Laude from NYU, I completed a four-year Masters Degree at Pacific College of Health & Science in San Diego. Focusing in Women's Health, I was practicing Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine just before it was mainstream in the United States.

Life was great for many years. I founded one of Colorado's largest wellness centers and completed another year of training to become a specialist in Integrative Reproductive Health. I worked with all of the local Reproductive Endocrinologists and IVF clinics. I also met and married my best friend, traveled a ton, and enjoyed a wonderful lifestyle.

The decision to have children came later for us for a variety of reasons. At first my desire to get pregnant was a trickle, and then a few months passed unsuccessfully and it became a full-blown waterfall. I could not believe I wasn't pregnant given my expertise, and because of that, I hid our infertility from everyone for two years!! (I do NOT recommend that.) I felt completely alone, depressed, and desperate.

After I finally connected with a reproductive endocrinologist colleague and spent a few hours crying in his office, I learned that I needed surgery for multiple problematic fibroids that had been missed on routine ultrasound.  However our age had caught up with us, and after three unsuccessful IUIs combined with Male Factor Infertility, we decided to go through IVF.

Everyone's journey to parenthood is different, but for me, the decision to go through IVF was the best one of my life. As hard as our journey was, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Our twin kiddos, Aiden and Bella, are beyond awesome, and I understand personally and professionally how devastating Infertility can be.

In the past few years since becoming a mom, I decided to step away from owning and managing a demanding business. I took time to reset as a person and enjoy precious time with my children. I also completed another year of study to become a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner and quickly realized how beneficial Functional Medicine could be during Fertility Treatment- from natural conception to IVF. I created The Functional Fertility Method™ to help others have access to as many tools and information as possible during their journey to parenthood. 

Why I Do It

Infertility is daunting, exhausting, and overwhelming. I had years of clinical experience, and I still felt that way! It can also feel incredibly isolating despite how common it is.

In addition, the unfortunate truth is that MOST medical providers are way too busy to give you ALL the details and information you need to navigate the best path for you. There is a cookie cutter approach to treat infertility, one that can miss crucial aspects of why you and/or your partner may be experiencing infertility in the first place. During my years in private practice, I constantly heard that I provided way more critical information than most of my patients' previous doctors had. That's why I developed The Functional Fertility Method™.
